Choose alchemy for pills and salves, cooking for food to feed pets, or the forge for weapons and gear. To try alchemy with gathered ingredients, collect two Mountain Ginseng and use them to make Golden Wound Salve at an Alchemy Cauldron.

How to make your first Golden Wound Salve

You need two Mountain Ginseng and access to an Alchemy Cauldron.

1. Gather two Mountain Ginseng. Look for red plants growing on the ground and pick them up until you have two.
2. Open Refine Pills at an Alchemy Cauldron. Add Mountain Ginseng twice to supply the Golden Wound Salve recipe.
3. Select Refine. This starts the alchemy timing interaction.
4. Press E or click as the circle reaches the middle. Continue matching the timing prompts until the refinement finishes.

Completing the refinement makes Golden Wound Salve. If you have the corresponding “refine any pill” quest objective active, this preparation also satisfies that objective.

Reuse a recipe after discovering it

The Alchemy Cauldron has a recipe book that remembers preparations you have already made. After making Golden Wound Salve for the first time, you can use its remembered recipe to automatically select the ingredients for later attempts.
